Qualifications for a Protective Order Include the Following:
Spouse/Former Spouse/Dating/Engaged in a Sexual Relationship/Biological Parents of the Same Child/Live Together in an Intimate Relationship/Intimate Partner of a Minor Child.
Family or Household Member: parent/grandparent/step-parent/adoptive parent/foster parent/child/grandchild/step-child/adopted child/foster child
Defendant is a Family or Household Member of the minor child(ren).
Filing Fee for a Protective Order is $204.25. There is no fee to fill out an application for protective order. However, the filing fee may be assessed (at the discretion of the presiding Judge after hearing of the matter) to either the Defendant or Plaintiff fail to appear for the scheduled hearing, costs may be assessed at the discretion of the presiding Judge to the Plaintiff.
Effective November 1, 2022, new statutory language has been added which permits any adult victim of a crime to file a Petition for Protective Order pursuant to 22.O.S. Section 50.2(A). Statute, however, also now requires any person who is NOT a family member, and/or had NOT been in a dating relationship with the Defendant, to file a complaint with law enforcement before filing a PO petition.

If you plan to have the Court Clerk attest to the Petition, you must sign in person before the Court Clerk/ Deputy Clerk when it is persented.
